WHO AM I?

WHO AM I?

We all almost reach this point or you have reached that point in life where you have asked this basic fundamental question – Who am I? Even Jackie Chan asked this question in the movie (Who am I). Well, don’t blame me for bringing that up because that’s one of the statements I remembered from watching that movie at a very young age. I always like the fact that he climbed very high and with his hands stretched he screamed: “who am I?” Very dramatic right? I bet that’s how your mind screams inside at the most top point – “Who am I?” Jackie Chan was my favorite movie star and I want to meet him if I can. Another person I wanted to meet but I never met was Mandela – at least not directly.

I am slowly drifting from the main essence of why I am writing this post. If you have ever asked yourself this question, then you are well on your way to getting the answer already. I have a nice young lady, I like to call my sister, she always complains to me when she hears people say what they are doing. She tells me, Mercy, but I don’t even know what I can do. Then I smile and she gets more agitated and says Mercy am serious. I am also serious and as simple as it is there is no special formula to it!

So if you are here for 5 Steps to know who you are – you are wrong! You might as well close this post already. Who am I? is more or less a brand question (think about it for a moment). One of the definitions of a brand by Google:

A brand is a particular image or identity regarded as an Asset. A particular type or kind of something. The synonyms are type, kind, sort, variety, class, category, species, genre, breed, style, stamp…

So let’s take a look at whose brand you are –

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth (Genesis 1:26)”

Personally branded by God himself in his own image in his own likeness. You were not born a mistake (even if your parents thought so). God is always precise in his workings. The word brand from Middle English means to “mark with a hot iron”. This was done to identify animals or servants or to show ownership.

“You were bought with a price; do not become slaves of men (1Corinthians 7:23)”

You have been bought from slavery and now you have the DNA of God. The Bible describes us as Ambassadors –  You are a representative of God on earth. That’s who you are. Anything contrary to the Word of God about you is a Lie!!! Many have heard good for nothing almost all through their childhood -that’s not who you are. You have been created by God for his good pleasure to show forth his glory. God’s masterpiece. His personal brand. So if you find yourself wondering who you then go back to God’s word.

Yeah, I know who I am? But what have I been called to do? To show forth God’s Glory. He has placed/deposited things in you for his Glory! Do you want to know? Then ask Him (Mathew 7:7). It is the Glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honor of kings to search out a matter (Proverbs 25:2).
