Six Things To Be Grateful For This Year

Gratitude is an attitude. It should not just be as a result of things going great or the feeling people get after something wonderful happens. It is a healthy habit strengthened by discipline, practice, hard work, and thoughtfulness. With everything going on, sometimes, we forget to practice gratitude. But it should not be. Be it a big deal or the little things God does for us, it is important not to take anything for granted.

Giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Ephesians 5:20 NKJV

Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Psalms 103:2‭-‬5 NKJV

Thankfulness is a way of life that has proven beneficial in a number of situations. Life is stressful, no doubt. But in the midst of all its stress and burdens, there are still many great things one should be thankful for.

In the spirit of the thanksgiving holiday, I have curated a list of small and big things you, should be thankful for this year:

  1. Life: If you are reading this, it means that you are alive. This is more than enough to be grateful for. Life is a gift, and if you are still breathing, there is hope. So, no matter how life gets, never forget to be thankful for the gift of life.
  1. God: Be you a Christian or Muslim, God is who gives essense to life. Hence, without Him, we are nothing. Next time you are sad, think about how empty and pointless life would be without God.

Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men!

  1. Clothes on your back: Statistics show that half the world’s population have no clothes on their back. Now, if you can afford a smartphone to read this, you most likely have clothes on, and that is a blessing you should appreciate.
  1. Family and friends: Being blessed with the privilege to love and have family and friends around is not something to be taken for granted. As they are one of life’s greatest gifts.
  1. Good health:Even if you are not in the best of health, be thankful in anticipation for it. And if you have excellent health, you do not know how lucky you are.
  1. Food: Until you have experienced hunger, you would not be able to fathom the feeling. Insignificant as it may seem, the ability to afford food is a great gift. Therefore, do not take it for granted.

And these are some of the things I thank God for everyday. Feel free to add yours too.
