MEMORIES OF ADAKU 2

The tears running down her eye brought her back to reality! She had promised herself that she won’t recall the past!

The past that seemed to hunt her down…Why did she even come back to this village after 20years of leaving? She had been given strict instruction by her psychologist that if she wanted to move ahead she needed to be able to confront her past.

Bayo her fiance had insisted on following her to confront the demons that plagued her…She didn’t want her future and past to meet at all. She had tried to tell him that but he just would not see reasons with her. Remembering the last conversation she had with him just brought more tears to her eye.

Bayo: My love let me follow you to Aguureli

Adaku: We have been through this Bayo. I love you too much to have you see what this does to me. Besides I need you here to help me hold fort…

Bayo: I still don’t get! After five years, you still won’t let me be a part of this!

(Bayo pacing to and fro)

Adaku knew that Bayo’s reflex action under any tense situation was pacing to and fro. Well, hers was to write in a journal. A journal she had named “Memories of Adaku”. It was her way of getting away from it all and escaping to a world of her own.

Bayo: Adaku you are doing it again…You have drifted away. Baby, please let me be a part of your world. After all, we have been through. You would let mom say she was right!

She was forced to return back from her fantasy world. Rolling her eye upon hearing Bayo mention his mom. That fight wasn’t an easy one. Bayo’s mom wanted him to marry a Yoruba girl instead of an Igbo girl.

Adaku: Dear I am grateful you fought for me but I have to fight this alone. If you don’t agree with me you leave me with no other option but to…

Bayo knew what was coming! The threat! How did he cope so far he wondered to himself.

Bayo: I will be here when you need me and decide to let me be a part of your life.

That was the last she had heard from Bayo! The network in Aguureli wasn’t even helping matters. She had tried his number several times. she didn’t want to think of the worst case scenario. Her life already had enough chaos as it were!
