How To Reignite Your Fire For God

Popular opinion is that the believer’s faith journey or walk is a walk in the park. To most, once salvation happens, everything “spiritual” begins to run smoothly. Well, that is not always the case. The Christian is first a human before a Christian. Hence, the challenges, doubts, fears, and temptations common to man afflicts the believer too. The difference though, is that coming in the camp of Christ, means that you are imparted with wisdom and knowledge on how to handle them when they arise.

This is to say that it is possible to see Christians who at one time were genuine lovers of God, lose it. They were risk takers, fervent, bold, and unperturbed. And suddenly, their spiritual lives have become unenthusiastic, boring, and cold. It happens!

To be honest, I have been there, and I know how frustrating it is. However, it does not have to be that way. We are overcomers in Christ. Therefore, be it a dry season, a lost love, or even a fire quenched, the word of God is ever present to see us through.

Are you in a dry season and do not know what to do about it? Do you desire to rekindle your love and passion for God? Are you an extinguished coal in the house of God? If that is the case, then, this is for you:

1. Admit the struggle:Admitting that we are struggling with our faith and need to rekindle or reignite our fire for God is a step to knowing that we still love God, depend on Him, and cannot do without Him. It shows that you are conscious of the place God takes in your life.

2. Repent and go back to fellowshipping with him: After admitting the struggle, being sorry and taking a U-turn (go back to doing those things we did when we first met Him and do more) is a step closer in reigniting your love for God.

Staying around people who are focused on God and who are still burning helps also. The Bible says in Proverbs 27:17 that “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens the face of his neighbor.” In other words, associating and fellowshipping with brethren with like minds will help you stay committed and focused on Jesus thus, pointing you towards your once lost love.

3.Build company with the word of God:Build company with your Bible, fix a time to study every day and, and have an accountability partner who you report to daily to help you stay on track. Be intentional about returning to God and in no time, you will.

God is always waiting for us to return when we fall short, He is waiting for you too. Cling to His love and grace and watch him reignite your love for Him like never before.
