How To Meal Prep For A Productive Day

Productivity is a way to give glory to God because it means you are fully utilizing your time and talents. As such, being productive requires that you find ways to release stress and pressure during the weekday. I am sure we can all agree that 2020 has brought its own share of stress. This year, most of us have either been out of work or had to transition to some kind of work from home mandate.

As our phases are different, I would assume we all have very different work from home realities. For example, there are people who may live alone so work from home is not too distracting since they have more autonomy over your space and time. On the other hand, others may have a house filled with a spouse, kids and perhaps other relatives which may lead to more stress when trying to work from home.

Regardless of your situation, we can all benefit from the power of meal prepping, especially in this pandemic. I have been meal prepping for a very long time, and I can attest of how this simple act boosts my productivity throughout the week. Meal prep is a very good tool to use to cut down on the time and energy spent during the week preparing meals. Organizing your food before the start of the week helps you efeduring the week.

Here are some tips on how to meal prep.

1. Make a comfortable batch of grains for your household

If you do not have a rice cooker, making any type of grains can be time consuming. The weekends can be a lot less hectic compared to the weekdays so you might find it beneficial to make a good batch of grains such as rice, quinoa, beans etc. These items last long in the fridge so making them before hand will give you more time within the week to be productive and less stressed.

2. Cook a versatile protein

There are so many sources of protein, but I highly recommend chicken. Chicken is very versatile, and you can use it in so many ways. It is also a lot easier to cook and digest compared to red meat. You can grill, bake, or broil your chicken. You can pair it with some sautéed veggies or even a side of rice or potatoes

3. Prep your breakfast

I like certain food cooked fresh, so I don’t cook everything while meal prepping. However, I like to chop my veggies a day or two before in order to ease the cooking processes. For breakfast eggs or tacos, I dice my veggies beforehand and store them in individual zip lock bags.

4. Plan out a snack or two

Grabbing a snack is a lot quicker than making a meal. However, it is easy to over snack when you have not decided the portion before you are hungry. If you work from home, take the morning before work to set aside 2 snacks to eat during your work hours. This will keep you from getting hangry and overeating.

Overall, when you add meal prepping to your schedule, it allows room for productivity. You do not have to prep every single meal but taking the time out to determine what you will eat and prepping a potion of the meal will save you lots of time. As a result, your productivity will be boosted.
