About Easter: Four Things To Pray For This Period

Recently, my pastor said that Easter should be more celebrated than Christmas. And I could not agree any better. Do not get me wrong! Christmas is important. I mean, if God did not send His son into the world, the world is forever doomed and Jesus would not have fulfilled what the prophets of the old prophesied, about God sending him as a redemption to mankind.

Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.

Isaiah 7:14 NKJV

But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting.

Micah 5:2 NKJV

But if he had not accomplished what He was sent to do, then his birth would not have been worthwhile. And that is what Easter is about – celebrating what Jesus accomplished on the cross for mankind. New to the faith and wondering what it is Jesus achieved on the cross? No worries!! Before we jump right into today’s post, for your sake, we are taking a brief look at what it is about Easter.

About Easter

One of the most important celebrations in the Christian community and the core of the Christian faith! Easter is a period where Christians all over the world celebrate the resurrection of Jesus from the tomb on the third day after his crucifixion. Easter is significant because it highlights God’s undying love for humanity and the resurrection of Jesus gives us renewed hope in Christ. It also emphasizes our victory over sin and death.

Since Easter is the foundation of the Christian faith, it is only right that we set apart time to pray, worship, and meditate on God’s word this period. This is a holy season and going a step further to acknowledge all Jesus did, will not only renew your faith but also reaffirm all you have in Christ. It will do you a lot of good to seek God’s face at this time.

Here are the things you can pray for this Easter:

  1. A prayer of thanksgiving: God sent His son to come and rescue mankind from perpetual damnation – a big deal. Now, it behooves us to intensely thank God in this period for the gift of His son. Without this singular act, I doubt we can boldly come to Him like we do today. Hence, He deserves all the praise and worship.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

John 3:16 NKJV

  1. A prayer to experience and show God’s love more: Just like the Christmas season, the Easter season is also about the love of God. Because if He did not love the world as He does, He would not have allowed his precious son to go through all he went through for us. Easter time is a time we pray to experience God’s love and be able representatives of it.

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Ryomans 5:8 NKJV

  1. A prayer for a better understanding of all Jesus did on the cross: Many Christians do not understand the full extents of what Jesus did on the cross. Consequently, they continually live in guilt and condemnation therereby, never feeling worthy of God’s love. It should not be so. Jesus’ blood on the cross gives us unlimited access to His love. So, set time apart this season to fully grasp the love of God in prayer.
  1. A prayer that more will be brought into the fold: Jesus did not come for you alone. He came for all of mankind. If you have found him, good for you. But it would make more sense if others can find him and recognize all He did for all of us. Have family and friends that are yet to accept Jesus? This is the perfect time to converse with the Father on their behalf.

Colored eggs and cute bunnies are cool. But Easter is more than that. It is a time where the world received the greatest gift it could ever receive. What better time to talk to God about all it entails.
