Four Simple Steps To Starting Your Mornings With God

In the same post, I also mentioned that it was not about finding the right time but just making a conscious decision to be in God’s presence daily.

While it is true that you do not need to schedule a perfect or right time to have a quality time with God, mornings are usually great for cultivating a habit of constant fellowship with God.

Mornings are the time of the day when one is most refreshed and re-energized. Hence, there is a level of inner peace and alertness one attains that is perfect for fellowship with God.

In the morning, most people are relaxed and peaceful So, there is a tendency to be in sync with oneself, leading to an easier connection with God when offering up prayers or worshiping.

Also, choosing to start your day with God is a practice that can never go wrong. First, you are acknowledging the one who allowed you to see another day. Then, you are committing the day into His hands for guidance and direction.

However, not everyone knows how to start their mornings with God. Factors like rushing out of bed or not being a morning person can hinder spending time with God in the morning.

Decided that 2024 is the year that you prioritize God but clueless on how to fit God’s time into your busy morning schedules? Here are simple and pressure-free steps to starting your morning with God:

  1. Posture: A hack to getting things done is to start almost immediately. Because a little delay and distractions begin to set. Therefore, the first step in prioritizing God in the morning, is to talk to Him in the posture you woke up with. Essentially, just lay in bed for five minutes and converse with Him before you get up.
  1. Word of God: After getting up, reach out for your Bible and pick out a scripture or two to use for the day. Note that it is important to not just pick them out. Be intentional about remembering and affirming them to yourself throughout the day. Place them in corners where you can easily see or reach for them.
  1. Mindset: To ensure that your outlook/mindset for the day is firm in God’s word, listen to worship songs. Seek God’s presence in your mind/heart while you get ready for work or do your house chores.
  1. Learn: Finally, delve into God’s word. Whether it is through a podcast episode or a taped message, learn about God before you start your day. It can be during your walk or stroll in the morning or on your way to work. In all, just make it a must to listen to God’s word daily.
