Top Three Ways To Be A Better Christian

Does accepting Jesus into your heart automatically make you a good Christian? Well, I do not think so. To be an embodiment of Christ or Christ-like, serious work has to be done. Here is the gist!!! Regardless of one’s switch to Jesus’ camp, you are still in your human nature. And your human nature is always warring with God’s spirit.

For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.

Galatians 5:17 NKJV

For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.

So, it is never a walk in the park. But, does this mean that we stop striving to be better in our walk with God and in our relation to people? The answer is no! Jesus is the perfect example of how Christians should act and be. However, because we still possess our earthly bodies, it is hard to be like Jesus completely. Often, despite being a Christian, there is a tendency  for us to act and behave in ways that are not pleasing to God. Therefore, to better our spiritual journey, a lot of effort is made. As we are still contending with the flesh. It involves being deliberate and committed to seeking ways to grow, learn, and improve our walk with God. Thus, it is not something you wish for.

But the path of the just is like the shining sun, That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.

Proverbs 4:18 NKJV

The next question is, “How can I improve my representation of Jesus to the world?” And the answer is; You can be a better Christian by the following:

  1. Be forgiving: Make a conscious effort to practice forgiveness. This can be towards yourself and others. forgiving yourself and forgiving others. When someone hurts or wrongs you, instead of vengeance or anger, you choose peace and forgiveness. Show them that your Christianity is not mere talk. That way, you have chosen to take the higher road. Consequently, representing Jesus and what he stands for.

And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
