Signs From God That They Are Not The One For You
Do you know that God is just as interested in who you end up walking down the aisle with, as with every other aspect of your life? Given that the decision to stick to one person forever is not a light one to ever make, God is always there to ensure that we make the right decision. And when the relationship is out of His will and He does not approve, He begins to show us signs. It is left to us to be sensitive to His voice and spirit. Sometimes, a Christian might put attraction and love before God’s consent. However, as time goes on, it becomes glaring and obvious why it is important to let God’s will prevail.
If you are on this dating ship and you are clueless and questioning everything, here are the signs to note from God when He tries to reveal that your partner is not the one for you:
- They are not born again: Can two work together unless they be agreed (Amos 3:3). How do you intend to spend the rest of your days with someone who does not share something as primary as your faith? Honestly, it can never work.

Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?

Therefore, it is mandatory to be with someone who you share the same faith with. If not, God will not approve, and He will show you. And when God does not approve, it is not for you.
- You are not at peace with yourself: When you are sensitive to the Holy spirit, one method God uses in showing you that you are unto a wrong path, is by giving you this unsettling feeling. If you are with this person and you have prayed about the relationship and you are still unsettled in your spirit, I think it is time to move.
- They do not have the same vision as you: Where there is no vision the people perish (Proverbs 29: 18).
Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; But happy is he who keeps the law.

Now, before you blind your eyes to the reality around you, you need to be sure that the person you want to ride with forever is going the same direction as you. What is their vision or mission in life? Are the two of you headed in the same way? If you cannot give a genuine response, it is time to reconsider.
- Your family does not approve: Parents are God’s representatives here on earth. If your family does not approve of your relationship even after you have tried to convince them beyond any reasonable doubt, then it is high time you re-evaluate your stance! They are probably seeing what you are not seeing.
- They want you to indulge in pre-marital sex: If your partner cannot keep their hands off you, it is wise that you have a re-think on where you stand in the relationship. Inasmuch as sexual feelings are natural and intense, your partner should exercise restraint or self-control. Remember:
Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

- They abuse you emotionally or physically: The Bible commands husbands to love their wives and wives should always respect their husband. Anything that drifts away from love and respect is not worthy of your attention. It is a big red flag, and you should flee from such an entanglement.
