Morning Routine for A Successful Day

The quality of your day typically depends on how you start it. There is a theory that highly successful people adopt a morning routine that is critical to them leading a successful lifestyle. For example, Oprah Winfrey typically wakes up at 6:00am and begins her day with gratitude.

“The key to realizing a dream is to focus not on success but on significance and then even the small steps and little victories along your path will take on greater meaning.”

Oprah Winfrey

This quote resonates with me because I believe in starting your day with gratitude!

I am going to share some tips and tricks I have learned to add to my daily morning routine that I have found to be quite helpful.

  1. Go to bed on time: We all have different schedules but one thing I believe is very important for you to have is a well-rested night. Sleep is critical to productivity. I have been a night owl in the last year due to the pandemic and the remote work schedule I have been on. However, these past few months, I have been putting in a conscious effort to go to sleep earlier. I have found that I feel great and it is a lot easier to wake up earlier when you are well rested.
  2. Make Time for God: The interesting part of having devotion is that it is not necessarily going to make God any happier with us. I believe that devotion and prayer time helps to align yourself with God and brings us peach when we know God’s plan for our lives. This is the part I struggle with because I sometimes believe that if I am not able to give an hour, then it is not “quality time”. However, I have found that spending 5-10 minutes with God also goes a long way.
  3. Do not Check Your Phone Notifications First Thing in The Morning: Yes! Emails, text messages, and missed phone calls can wait. Your personal priorities are far more valuable than other people’s priorities, especially early in the day. You set the tone of the day in the morning. So if you wake up stressed, you find that the rest of your day is stress-filled. One thing I do when I wake up is I make sure I prioritize my needs first before attending to other things.
  4. Workout in The Morning: I am big on health and fitness, so I try my best to ensure I do my workout in the morning. I find that it is easier for me to keep up with my healthy lifestyle when I work out in the morning because I feel great from the release of endorphins. Moreover, there is something about accomplishing a workout that makes you feel motivated to conquer the day.

These are some tips that I would encourage you to add to your morning routine for a more productive day. What does your morning routine consist of? We would like to hear from you in the comments below!
