How To Remain Strong During Trials

My favourite Bible story of all time is the story of Ruth and Noami. Their ability to hold fast to the promises of Naomi’s God, despite the challenges they faced is quite fascinating. Having suffered a loss so great, such as losing sons and husband, their choice to pull themselves together, stay strong, return back to Noami’s homeland, and still serve “the God of Noami ” is something worth emulating in the Christian space. To say challenges or trials will not arise, is to deceive oneself. In fact, once you become God’s own, you are supseptible to the trials and battles of life. Hence, be spiritually equipped for times like that. As a matter of authenticity, the Bible says:

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.

James 1:2‭-‬3 NKJV

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,

I Peter 1:6 NKJV

The Holy Book confirms that Christians will encounter trials and temptations in life. But it is also remarkable to understand how to remain unruffled in such a time. A trying time is not a time to be weak or to be feeble-minded; rather it is a time to look up to the Lord for supernatural strength to pull through.

If you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength is small.

Proverbs 24:10 NKJV

Although Christians also experience trials and temptations, it is necessary to understand that God tempts no one! It is the devil and his agents that bring temptations and trials to man.

Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.

James 1:13 NKJV

With that in mind, below are the ways in which you can exude unwavering faith and trust in God in the face of adversity:

  1. Trust in the Lord with all your heart: No matter the challenges you confront, understand that God will not allow you to sink with it. It may not be easy, but you need to trust wholly in God because He will not allow the devil tempt you beyond what you can hear.

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

  1.  Ask God for a way out: There is a way out of every trial. You just have to ask God first. Do not take rash steps on your own. Endeavor to cry out to God for rescue, and do not look for rescue from strange sources or other gods. The Bible says:

They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not ashamed.

Psalms 34:5 NKJV

  1. Build your faith in God’s word: All the solutions to all trials are in God’s word. If you ever want to sail through any trial in life, then let the word of God be enmeshed in your heart. Your faith must be bigger than any trial that you are confronted with. This is the cheapest way out of the devil’s snare.

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Romans 10: 17 NKJV

  1. Rejoice through it all: Let’s get real here!! It is not going to be easy. Our human nature would not accept that. But show me a Christian full of joy and rejoicing in the midst of trials and I will show you one strengthened by the Holy Spirit to overcome life’s setbacks.   The Bible admonishes us to rejoice always! There is definitely  a reason for that instruction.

No matter the depths of trials or temptation we confront, our Victory is already established in God. What matters is where our heart lies during this time, and the attitude we put up also. Do not be afraid during the storms, rather put on the whole armour of faith quench all the fiery darts of the enemy.
