Five Ways You Can Show Kindness In Tough Times

Am I pretending when I show kindness during a rough patch? Or can I spread love and warmth to the people around you, even when things are not great? Well, my answer is the latter. I think we all can do it. I know that times are tough and as such, there is a tendency for these kinds of things to negatively affect our general disposition.

Nevertheless, it is not enough reason to spread toxicity and hatred when you meet people. Bear in mind that these people have battles they are fighting too. So, even when in a fix, the appropriate response to your situation and the people (family, friends, and even strangers) around, is to communicate extra sunshine, grace, love, laughter, and warmth wherever you are or go. Be reminded that this does not suggest pretense or going out of your way to please people. Alternatively, it is choosing to be good and do good regardless of any situation.

In a fix and do not know how to still be of good cheer and circulate positive energy to the people around you? No worries! Sit back and read on:

  1. Smile: Foremost, putting on a smile is one of the finest accessories anyone can have on. Second, smiling is contagious. Now, if you meet someone who was in a foul mood already, smiling at the person has a way of automatically changing his/her countenance. In a matter of seconds, you have done a good deed.
  2. Wash your hands regularly: Yes! Covid-19 has abated. But that does not mean that healthy practices end. Even at your lowest, thinking about the health of others around you is a thoughtful act. By this, I mean, taking safety measures (washing your hands) to ensure that those you meet, do not contract diseases through association with you. Therefore, instead of germs, you spread health and goodness.
  3. Help the elderly in your neighborhood: No better way to embody love than helping the elderly in your neighborhood. It not only makes you feel good about yourself, but it also shows that your head is in the right place.
  4. Pray for friends: I think that we could all take a cue from Job in this regard. In Job 42:10, we see Job on bent knees interceding for his friends despite him being in a rut. This demonstrates the importance of choosing to be the light, even in a dark world. Your friends do not have to know about it. But be rest assured that praying for your friends goes a long way in sorting them out.
  5. Speak kindly: Nobody needs to know that all is not well by the tone of your voice. Whatever the case may be, always make a deliberate effort to speak positive and kind words to yourself and the people around you. And in no time, you begin to reap its fruits.

It is humane to encounter ups and downs, every now and then. What makes us superheroes is how we decide to react to whatever life throws on our paths. CHOOSE KINDNESS AND WATCH YOURSELF BE UNSTOPPABLE.
