Combat Year-End Anxiety By Articulating These Four Scriptures Aloud

Other than the mental turmoil year-end brings, I like this part of the year. I mean, I get to celebrate my favorite holiday – Christmas. Also, year-ends signals the start of something new and exciting. As said earlier, my only problem with the season is the effect it has on my mental health. Let me explain!

I am a go-getter. So, for me, year-ends are for rounding up all I had set out to do in the year and ensuring that I finish strong. While this is a great mindset to have, it often plunges me into a web of anxiety, depression, and anger. Hear me out! I have nothing against finishing strong or ticking off all the boxes on your list. All I am saying is that it is also okay to end the year peaceful, grateful, and relaxed. This way, there will be less anxiety and pressure and we can enter the year energized and refreshed.

Apart from not trying to over achieve this period, affirming right words over your life is a great way to ward off the unnecessary pressure and anxiety the year-end brings. And as usual, there is no better place to pick out these right words than your Bible.

Hence, for today’s post, we are keeping it simple and golden with four powerful verses you can read aloud or quote to combat year-end anxiety:

  1. Psalms 23:1-4

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
‭‭

Psalms 23:1-4 NKJV
  1. John 16:33

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

‭‭John‬ ‭16‬:‭33‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

  1. Isaiah 41:10

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭41‬:‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

  1. Matthew 6:25-26

Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭25‬-‭26‬ ‭NKJV

You can make this year-end a little different from others. The type free from anxiety and pressure. Just try not to do too much and recite these verses out loud if “they” raise their voices. Also, feel free to add more in the comments section if you have.

Happy New Month!
